Circularity & Sustainability

At Saving Tides Co., we're not just creating apparel – we're reimagining how clothing can serve the planet instead of polluting it.

Circularity is at the core of this mission. It means designing products with their entire lifecycle in mind – from how they’re made, to how they’re used, reused, and ultimately, returned to the earth or reimagined for new life.

This is our transparent, evolving roadmap toward a regenerative, ocean-positive apparel system – where waste is designed out, and impact becomes action.

Where We Are Now

  • Thoughtful Materials:
    • Our garments are made using recycled fabrics (like rPET from plastic bottles), reducing demand for virgin materials and helping divert plastic from oceans and landfill.
    • We’re working towards a zero-plastic future in our products and packaging – with a bold shift toward compostable polyester alternatives on the horizon.
    • Suppliers are chosen based on ethical production, transparency, and low-waste manufacturing practices.
  • Designed for Longevity:
    • Our pieces are made to last: timeless, versatile, and built with premium quality to reduce the need for constant replacement.
    • We focus on small, intentional drops – no overproduction, no wasteful trends.
    • Consistent sizing and fit allows for confidence in re-purchase and resale.
  • Plastic-Free Packaging:
    • Orders are shipped in recyclable or compostable packaging – no virgin plastics, ever.
    • Our garment tags are made from FSC-certified recycled paper, printed with non-toxic inks.

Where We’re Going: Our Circularity Goals

1. Take-Back Program

Coming soon: a return system for all Saving Tides Co items – regardless of condition. Returned items will be:

  • Repaired and resold
  • Donated to aligned ocean and youth initiatives
  • Recycled through verified textile recovery programs

2. Care to Wear Longer

We’re working on simple ways to help your pieces last longer, including:

  • Care tips to keep your clothes fresh
  • Easy repair inspo
  • Tailor and fix-it recs if your piece needs extra love

3. Re-wear & Resale Platform

Launching a curated space for pre-loved Saving Tides pieces:

  • Second-chance samples, returned items, or imperfects
  • Lower-price access while reducing waste
  • A celebration of slow fashion and re-circulation

4. End-of-Life Pathways

Not all garments can live forever – but they can be transformed. We’re working on:

  • End-of-life return options for recycling
  • Partnerships with recyclers who convert fabric into insulation, new yarn, or industrial materials
  • Clear guidelines to help you dispose responsibly if return isn’t possible

5. Circular Design Innovation

Future collections will integrate:

  • Mono-material garments for easier recycling
  • Compostable polyester blends that break down naturally at end of life
  • Modular or upcyclable elements to support garment reconfiguration or adaptation
  • Digital product passports that track your garment’s life cycle and care journey

Our Commitment to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)

We acknowledge and support the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – policies that make brands accountable for what they put into the world.

  • Planning circular systems for product returns and recycling
  • Reducing the use of mixed materials and virgin synthetics
  • Working towards full transparency in design, materials, and lifecycle
  • Staying informed on emerging EPR legislation and ready to act

As regulations evolve in Australia and globally, we’ll be ready – not just to comply, but to lead.

Why This Matters

The fashion industry is responsible for up to 10% of global emissions, with billions of garments discarded annually. This linear, waste-heavy model is out of sync with the ocean – and with nature.

Circularity flips the script. It’s about doing more with less. It’s about designing for return, repair, reuse, and regeneration.

At Saving Tides Co., we’re here to prove that fashion can be different – and that small, mission-driven brands can drive massive change. Your support helps us build the blueprint for that future.

Join the Journey

We’re not perfect – but we’re transparent, intentional, and always evolving. Circularity is a process, and we’re honoured to build it with our ocean-loving community by our side.
