Circularity & Sustainability

At Saving Tides Co, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s a responsibility.

We exist to challenge the linear fashion model that extracts, produces, and discards without consequence. Instead, we’re building a slower, more considered approach to apparel — one that respects the ocean, values longevity, and designs with the full lifecycle of a garment in mind.

Circularity sits at the heart of this vision. It means thinking beyond the first wear — considering how products are made, used, repaired, reused, and ultimately returned or transformed, rather than sent to landfill.

This page outlines where we are today, and where we’re intentionally heading next.

Where We Are Now

We prioritise lower-impact materials that reduce reliance on virgin resources and help divert waste from landfill. Our current garments incorporate recycled fibres such as rPET derived from post-consumer plastic bottles, alongside responsibly sourced cotton to improve durability and performance. We work with suppliers who demonstrate ethical production standards, transparency, and low-waste manufacturing practices.

We design with longevity front of mind. Our pieces are timeless, versatile, and made to be worn often and kept longer — not trend-driven or disposable. By focusing on small, intentional drops and consistent sizing, we aim to reduce overproduction and encourage repair, re-wear, and resale.

We are also actively reducing unnecessary plastic across our packaging system. Orders are shipped using recyclable or compostable materials wherever possible, with no virgin plastic included. Garment tags are made from FSC-certified recycled paper and printed with non-toxic inks.

Where We're Going

Circularity is a process — not a single solution — and we’re committed to improving as better systems become viable.

We’re exploring take-back and return pathways for Saving Tides Co garments at the end of their usable life, with the intention of repairing, reselling, donating, or responsibly recycling returned pieces. We’re also developing simple resources to help customers care for their garments properly, extending their lifespan through better washing, minor repairs, and thoughtful maintenance.

As we grow, we plan to introduce re-wear and resale options for samples, returns, and imperfect pieces, keeping garments in circulation for longer while reducing waste. At the same time, we’re researching end-of-life solutions, including partnerships that convert worn textiles into new materials, insulation, or industrial applications.

Future collections will continue to explore simpler material compositions, lower-impact alternatives, and design choices that support repair, reuse, and transparency over time.

Extended Producer Responsibility

We support the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility — the idea that brands should remain accountable for what they put into the world.

That means designing with end-of-life in mind, reducing reliance on virgin synthetics, improving transparency across materials and sourcing, and staying informed as EPR legislation evolves in Australia and globally. Our goal isn’t just to comply, but to lead with intention and honesty.

Join the Journey!

We’re not perfect — but we’re transparent, intentional, and always evolving.

Circularity is something we’re building alongside our ocean-loving community, and we welcome ideas, feedback, and conversation as we continue to grow.
